The Everley Country Hotel is situated in the North York Moors National Park and hosts a vast range of activities for you to experience. Below are just a few ideas to help you enjoy your stay with us......

Walking
The North York Moors National Park features many walks featured around Pickering, Goathland, Hutton-le-Hole, Rosedale and Danby. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park Visitor Centre is situated at Danby were you can obtain information about the National Park.

The Cleveland Way National Trail
There is no better way to take the weight of the world off your shoulders than to take a walk along the Cleveland Way National Trial. This 110 mile/176 kilometre walking route follows the fantastic scenery of the North York Moors National Park, crossing stunning lengths of heather moorland and providing spectacular views of the North Yorkshire coastline.

The distance to walk is entirely up to you, some enjoy a few hours, some a few days and others take nine days to walk the full length between Helmsley and Filey. The North Sea Trail
Get your walking boots on and try one of 18 exciting walks along the North Sea Trail. The themed linear and circular walks offer a fantastic opportunity to explore and enjoy the fascinating natural and cultural heritage of the North Yorkshire coast.

Follow a route across farmland from the edge of the moors to the edge of the sea via historic Staithes - where Captain Cook once worked, or walk to Runswick Bay where almost the entire village slipped into the sea on one dark night. The North Sea Trail aims to develop walking opportunties around the coast of the North Sea Countries. In the North York Moors, the route follows the coastal section of the Cleveland Way National Trail. Please visit the North Sea Trail website for more details about the walks and getting to the Trail. Bird Watching
Hackness Valley attracts a large number of bird species. The River Derwent runs through the valley just behind the hotel, here you can see Dipper, Kingfisher and Grey Wagtail. Just a mile down the road you will find Forge Valley Nature Reserve which has a very popular "Bird Feeding Station". Here you can see five species of British tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Jay and Sparrowhawk. In the Summer months you can find Blackcap, Spotted Flycatcher, Redstart, Wood Warbler, Whitethroat, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler.

Bempton Cliffs RSPB Reserve
Bempton Cliffs Bird Reserve is the only mainland Seabird breeding coloney in the United Kingdom with Gannets, Puffins, Gullimots, Razorbills and Kittiwakes regularly returning to the cliffs in early May before heading back to sea after the breeding season comes to a close in early September. Another alternative of viewing the breeding seabirds of Bempton Cliffs is to take a boat ride on the "Yorkshire Belle" which departs from Bridlington Harbour at least twice a week in the season. Cycling
The North Yorkshire Moors National Park has many miles of country roads, bridleways, forest tracks and disused railways which offer ideal routes for cyclists of all ages.

Moor to Sea Cycle Route
This route takes you through some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. The diversity of this landscape is amazing - heather moors, forests, farmland and cliffs overlooking the sea - and along the way there are many places to stop, rest and take in the views. Forest Cycling
Forest Enterprise provides some great cycling opportunities in Dalby Forest. A range of graded routes is available catering for children and families as well as experienced mountain bike enthusiasts.
